« Turquoise Mountain » is part of series experimenting with emblematic form and colour. The palette and subject is primarily instinctive. The subject of the mountain is intrinsic to the power of the piece. It is ancient and yet current; we are connected to nature in no closer way than the awe-inspiring image of the great mountain. The bright palette takes the work out of naturalism and into abstraction and playfulness. The work is a refreshing and modern approach to this classic subject.
