Description
My sculptures are influenced by West Coast architecture called “Googie”. The origin of Googie dates to 1949, when architect John Lautner designed the West Hollywood coffee shop Googies, which had distinct architectural characteristics. Features of this Mid-Century modern style include upswept roofs, curvaceous, geometric shapes, and bold use of glass, steel and neon. This piece is part of a new series I am currently making which is influenced by my love of surfing.
