Description
Mixed media using gold leaf on canvas « This is the second piece in my Tiktaalik series. It is the continuation of my artistic exploration into ways of representing the sense of age-old permanence superimposed with the understanding that landscapes that I love are continually changing and evolving. I wanted to find a way to show « What was », represented by the outline of the mountain, now completely eroded by eons of weathering and « What is », in the form of gentle hills and valleys, still being gradually reshaped by repeated cycles of rain, dusty wind, sun and ice. » This original composition uses a unique combination of copper leaf, acrylic and watercolour paints and pastels on a 1.6cm deep, gallery wrapped canvas. It is protected from dust and UV light by a thin layer of varnish. The sides are painted black, giving this artwork a highly contemporary finish. Framing is not required. The artwork is signed on the front and provided with a certificate of authenticity.
