The four horseman

Description

In this artwork each horse appears in the same order of The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, first white then red, black … Each horse contains a small portion of color of the other one, and they are layered from the tail one on top of the other symbolizing the union and the small gap that separates Conquest from war, famine from death respectively. The canvas is divided with black lines inspired from old prints books where this horseman appear illustrated in the past. The artwork is painted on a thick gesso surface to emulate antique fresco walls. The horse I choose is a Arabian horse « Thoroughbred », is an ancient breed of riding horses, bred in the territory of the Arabian Peninsula in the IV-VII centuries AD. The world turns, the time pass by, but at the end the human kind reminds the same, Conquest, War, Famine and Death, still upon us. It is like we never learn it is been said since the beginning of the days and it is a little bit frustrating to see how nothing changes. My personal vision on this artwork is to try to give some hope and the best way for me to do that is trough beauty.
