Overdrive, distortion & fuzz effect pedal
Designed by Howard Alexander Dumble in the early 1970s, this amp is legendary for its exceptional overdrive channel. Inspired by the platform of a Fender Bassman, its standard preamp circuit is augmented by a preamp tube and two triodes, creating a four-stage cascaded gain signal. This design is the source of an incomparable saturation, thick, rich, creamy and just as clear, articulate and dynamic. The Dumble Overdrive Special is also considered one of the most responsive amps to the player’s playing, forgiving no technical approximation.
The DSM & HUMBOLDT The Dumblifier Overdrive Special pedal, developed from an in-depth analysis of a vintage example, is unquestionably the most faithful device to the original Dumble. Not only does it reproduce the singular grain of the Overdrive Special in the finest detail, but more importantly, it responds organically to your touch and dynamics, with wonderful, natural, punchy compression and velvety sustain.
The Dumblifier features two channels (Clean / Overdrive), a comprehensive and intuitive control panel, a series of three filters for working on textures (Rock on/off, Mid Boost on/off, Rock / Jazz), a switchable stereo reverb (three presets Room, Ethereal, and Plate, level control), an effects loop for inserting complementary delays or modulations.
The Dumblifier is much more than a simple saturation pedal. Naturally, you can use it in the traditional way to complete the channels of your amp, but if you want to exploit its full potential, it can operate as a complete analog amp, thanks to a built-in, switchable simulation circuit and D.I. outputs. So you can connect it directly to a console in concert or in the studio.
