_Rules_ is a mixed media painting by [Niki Hare](/artist/147/niki-hare), made on unstretched canvas and shipped in a tube. The composition features collage elements and layered [typography](/art/typography), reworked multiple times. “This piece was reworked many times. I just keep going until the work has something ok in it. There are no rules in art or anything, but it is hard to hold onto this,” says the artist. A visual and conceptual meditation on the process of making and unmaking.
