A 12 x 12″ oil on board painting. One of those days when it is sunny one minute, then pours with rain the next, followed by warm sun. I made the landscape, which is a short walk from my home, as simple as possible because of the complexity of the sky. Christopher Witchall’s landscape paintings capture the light, space and vast skies of the Cambridgeshire fens where he has lived, explored, painted and photographed for 30 years. His unsentimental approach to his subjects combine traditional painting techniques with the realism and cool detachment of photography. Occasional Showers is signed ‘CW’ on the bottom right and is sold unframed.
