New York Map of Days

Description

A map of New York that features date specific references to things in the city’s illustrious history. All 366 days of the year are covered and a handful have more than one drawn detail where a choice was impossible (for example 2 October when the iconic lunch on the Rockefeller skyscraper photograph was taken and Groucho Marx was born). It is place specific where possible and although every one of the five boroughs is included in references, the extremely edited version of the city has meant that only part of Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn are depicted. It covers the period between 1609 when Henry Hudson first spotted Manhattan through to 2016 when David Bowie died and the largest dinosaur skeleton ever was unveiled at the American Museum of Natural History. It is an etching and engraving that is made in four sections attached together with archival cloth tape that fold in the manner of an ancient folding map. Each section has coloured engraved areas and highly detailed etched black and white images.
