Description
In the month of May the fields surrounding my home village are transformed by the yellow rapeseed flowers. The transformation is as spectacular as the snowfall in winter. Christopher Witchall’s landscape paintings capture the light, space and vast skies of the Cambridgeshire fens where he has lived, explored, painted and photographed for 30 years. His unsentimental approach to his subjects combine traditional painting techniques with the realism and cool detachment of photography.
