Description
Hermione was inspired by the wonderful range of colourful houses when she was travelling in the Caribbean. A sharp light and tropical vegetation combined with architectural elements have been her focus in this painting. She created her ‘Modern Architecture’ series of paintings by exploring elusive relationships involving colour, light, balance and perspective. She has overlaid multiple layers of oil paint to create a fine juxtaposition between translucent and opaque shapes. The paintings are constructed from three wooden panels to yield a sculptural quality in tension with the soft, hand painted surfaces.
