Description
‘Ice Cream Plaza’ is a limited edition print. Giclee, silksceen and glazes on fabriano paper available in an edition of 75. Originally an original mixed media collage with the same name. Bonnie and Clyde’s mixed media collage and print-work centres around scenes of the urban imaginary. Employing a blend of photography, collage and paint, the emotive art of Bonnie and Clyde explores the psychogeography of the metropolis, immersing the viewer in beautiful and bizarre cityscapes. ‘Ice Cream Plaza’ incorporates a series of self-taken photographs, amassed from a trip to Havana. Inspired by the socialist ice-cream industry within Castro’s Cuba, and by Coppelia, the capital’s ‘ice-cream cathedral’, Bonnie and Clyde has collaged together images from Plaza Viejo with strips of beautiful, soft, ice-cream-colours, peppered with white sprinkle shapes, in a graphic nod to the frozen delight. An off-kilter, black and white tiled floor streaks across the centre of the print, to summon the feel of a kitchen or parlour and to create Bonnie and Clyde’s surreal and dizzying vision of Cuba’s crumbling yet elegant and spirited capital city.
