Description
Ian says of the photograph – « This is not a vintage shop. This is what they were selling as high fashion in Newcastle in the mid 70’s, albeit to a slightly downbeat audience. When you wanted something new to wear to the Bingo, this is where you went. It has the most glorious barrel-vaulted roof made of glass and cast-iron which allows a really soft light in. Even in the mid 70’s these heads looked archaic and the hats seemed impossibly out of date, but someone must have bought things there because the stall lasted for quite a while after this image was made. Signed on the front, bottom right. Edition number bottom left, both in border.
