Golden Sunrise over London

This is a panoramic photograph of London looking towards The City and its iconic skyline of tall skyscrapers over the trees of Primrose Hill and Regent’s Park. It was created by digitally blending together 12 individual images taken with a powerful telephoto lens, creating a wide panoramic view of great detail, rich tones and very high resolution. This was captured in September 2016, on a bright but hazy morning. As the sun rose to the left of the image border, Butler noticed a magical light appear in the sky, and reflecting off the buildings. It reminded him of the rich, warm, atmospheric green/yellow tones of the skies in the paintings of one of his favourite painters, the great Venetian painter Canaletto. As the sun rose higher in the sky, it quickly burned away that light haze and mistiness, and the magic was gone. This capture of this fleeting view has proven to be one of Butler’s most popular recent images. This is a limited edition print available also in larger sizes. The total number of prints in all dimensions will be limited to 100.
