Drainage ditches criss-cross the fen landscape linking to dykes and rivers. They are essential in preventing this low landscape from flooding and are a prominent feature when exploring the region. Christopher Witchall’s landscape painting captures the atmosphere, space and vast skies of the Cambridgeshire fens where he has lived, explored, painted and photographed for 30 years.
