Like the SG Standard or the Les Paul Custom, the ES-335 is one of Gibson’s timeless models. By design, this semi-hollowbody electric guitar with internal block* excels in many musical registers, from Blues, Pop and Jazz to Classic Rock and Hard-Rock.
*The Maple center block exacerbates note holding and limits the feedback problems inherent in hollowbody guitars. This feature enables the ES-335 to « withstand » high levels of saturation.

The GIBSON USA Original Collection ES-335 50s (ES35500EBNH1) is no exception, continuing the tradition in a version that combines tradition and contemporaneity.
It retains the essential features of the original 335s, including a 3-ply Maple/Poplar/Maple body with center block, glued mahogany neck, 22-fret Rosewood fingerboard, double-wound pickups and Tune-O-Matic bridge.
This « 50s » version features a Rounded C neck profile, Custombucker pickups, Gibson Vintage Deluxe Keystone Button action and Dot fingerboard inlays.

The pickups are Gibson Custombuckers with Alnico 3 magnets, delivering the prized tones of Patent Applied For double-wound reference systems. Each pickup is connected to its own volume and tone controls (500k) and high-end « Orange Drop » capabilities.

Fittings include a traditional ABR-1 Tune-O-Mati bridge, Stop Bar tailpiece and Gibson Vintage Deluxe Keystone Button tuners.

Care
The nitrocellulose varnish, as on Gibson vintage instruments, plays a major role in the instrument’s « breathing » thanks to its porous nature (vibrations are not muffled by the varnish). On the other hand, this varnish is relatively sensitive to contact with the plastics and foams of certain stands, as well as to certain excessively detergent cleaning products.
