She apprenticed under the legendary Queen of Tone, Abigail Ybarra, for three years, soaking up Abby’s 50-plus years of knowledge and mastering her unrivaled winding techniques. Upon Abigail’s retirement, Josefina took her rightful place among the Fender Custom Shop’s Master Builders. Today, Josefina’s pickups produce some of the most sought-after tones in the world.
FENDER Custom Shop Tomatillo Telecaster Josefina Hand Wound Pickup Set (0992384000) utilizes aged Alnico II magnets to replicate the sound of Alnico V magnets that have been played in since the 1950s, ensuring a clean, full, and chiming tone. The Josefina Hand-wound Tomatillo Telecaster set’s open-coil neck pickup offers a subtly brighter tone compared to a traditional covered Tele single-coil.
