Description

During WW1, this beautiful castle in France was occupied by German staff. It was damaged by bombing and ransacked by the troops. A nobleman restored it and passed it down to his daughter. Again in WW2 it was used and then remained empty for a long time. It was sold over 30 years ago, and it has been abandoned for quite some time; with the odd sign of renovation starting. Gina found it interesting to see signs of architectural styles changing, extensions made and outbuildings added. This room was photographed at about 8am, the room was very dark and there was limited light due to the shutters being screwed shut. The back shutters opened so it let some light in, Gina then set up her camera for a long exposure. She was interested in the juxtaposition between the old and the new, and objects in the scene. The whole chateau was decaying slowly, with some parts fallen through completely. It had over 20 rooms. Hahnemühle Fine Art Baryta 325gsm Giclee print, a premium quality paper, which is perfect for Gina Soden’s brightly coloured and textured images. Edition of 10 with 2 A/P’s. Your print is produced by one of London’s best printers. Gina Soden will then personally proof and check the artwork. It will then be packaged and rolled in a tube sent by courier. Size includes 2cm border so it is ready for framing. With your artwork there will be a signed & numbered certificate of authenticity. This can be affixed to the back of the print when framed.
