Description

AKG C114 is aimed at advanced home-studios, content creators and studios who want a highly versatile large-diaphragm microphone. You choose the pick-up pattern according to the plug, and adapt the mic to the source. The result is a clear, balanced mic with smooth highs. An excellent choice if you’re looking for a « central » mic to record a lot, with real added value on a budget.

Features

26 mm dual-diaphragm capsule, rich, balanced sound

You gain presence and definition, without harshness. The gold-metallized capsule helps keep treble smooth and response even. Ideal for vocals, acoustic instruments, ambient miking or closer sources, with a flattering, natural sound.

Three polar patterns to suit every take

Cardioid, omni or figure-of-eight. You’re no longer limited. You can go from an isolated voice to a room shot, from a face-to-face duo to a larger recording, simply by changing the mode. Extremely practical both in the studio and for content creation.

Clear reproduction thanks to transformerless FET circuitry

The FET circuit delivers clean, precise sound, with no marked coloration. Details and transients are recovered with good legibility. The pickup remains consistent from one source to the next, simplifying your work in the mix.

High SPL, at ease with powerful sources

With a sustain of up to 145 dB SPL, the C114 takes the strain without noticeable distortion. You can use it on loud vocals, percussion or amps, while maintaining a stable image and good definition.

Low noise and wide dynamic range

Ultra-low self-noise captures fine nuances. You record smooth passages, breaths and details without intrusive hiss. This is what makes the microphone credible for demanding studio and broadcast recordings.

Responsible design, built to last

100% recycled metals and PIR alloys, recyclable packaging. You’re investing in a sustainable microphone, with a more responsible approach, without losing audio performance.

FAQ

Which directional pattern should I choose for home studio vocals?

Cardioid is the simplest. It picks up most of your voice and limits room ambience. Perfect for podcasts, streaming, voice-overs and vocals.

What’s the omnidirectional mode for?

It picks up everything around the microphone. Useful for more natural pickup, room ambience, more open acoustic guitar, or when you want less proximity effect.

Is the figure-of-eight mode useful in practice?

Yes, it picks up the front and back, and rejects the sides. Handy for a face-to-face duet, an interview, or certain stereo recording techniques in the studio.

Can it record very loud sources?

Yes. It can handle up to 145 dB SPL without perceptible distortion, making it at home on powerful vocals, percussion or amps.

What do I need to connect it?

An XLR input and 48 V phantom power, via an audio interface or console. An XLR cable is required.
