Description
This work was inspired after a trek in the Himalayas. Helen was trekking for a few days in snow. The blue is about ice but also a welcoming beacon when at the end of the day, exhausted, she was so happy to see the blue roofs in the village in the distance. Helen has mixed a cold wax medium with the oil paint, which she applies in several layers. The top layers have been scraped back in places to reveal the colours in the layers beneath. It’s about the colour and pattern in the landscape. It has been painted on a cradled wood panel. This supports the painting surface so that it will not warp. It also gives depth to the board and the d rings are able to be fitted without any chance of them damaging the surface of the painting. This also means that the painting may be hung as it is without a frame. The board is complete with D-rings and cord.
