Description
Here in Northumberland there is much evidence of Rome – roads, military camps and of course, Hadrian’s Wall. This piece documents a fort in the landscape. The colours are warmer perhaps, than the soldiers remembered, since the northernmost reach of the empire was considered the short straw. Here the colour is comic-like, hence the title.
