Description
In September 2007 Hume showcased his solo show ‘American Tan’ at White Cube gallery, London. Made when the artist was spending time in New York, the paintings and sculptures from which this series of prints evolved are a result of the artist’s intimacy with America and comment on its impact and importance within the world. Taking the cheerleader as a classic American image, the sensual abstracted figure is playful but compelling, explicit but enigmatic.
