Description
This work was inspired after a trek in the Himalayas. The elements that Helen has combined are the deep red colour of the monks robes with the Sanskrit writing from a Buddhist prayer book and golf leaf. Helen has used cold wax with the oil paint which allows her to build up textures. Alizarin is a transparent colour which she likes to build up to create richness and depth in the painting. It has been painted on a cradled wood panel. This prevents the painting surface from warping. It also gives depth to the board and the D- rings can be fitted without any chance of them damaging the surface of the painting. This also means that the painting may be hung as it is without a frame. The board is complete with D-rings and cord.
