Description
This work was inspired after a trek in the Himalayas. The elements that I have combined are the deep red colour of the monks robes with the Sanskrit writing from a Buddhist prayer book and golf leaf. I have used cold wax with the oil paint that allows me to build up textures. Alizarin is a transparent colour, which I like to build up to create richness and depth in the painting. It has been painted on a cradled wood panel. This supports the painting surface so that it will not warp. It also gives depth to the board and the D- rings are able to be fitted without any chance of them damaging the surface of the painting. This also means that the painting may be hung as it is without a frame. The canvas is complete with D-rings and cord.
